Designated Safeguarding Lead: Mrs Anna Coulson - Executive Head Teacher
Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead: Mrs Joanna Wilson & Mr Martin Gunn
At St Bede’s Primary Catholic Voluntary Academy, we take safeguarding extremely seriously. We work closely with the school family to make ensure that safeguarding is a priority of the school. Recent training includes Female Genital Mutilation, Fabricated and Induced Illness, Domestic Abuse, and Tackling Racism and Promoting Equality. All Designated Safeguarding Leads have the necessary Level 3 Core Safeguarding Training.
We have enlisted the services of a safeguarding consultant who takes part in termly supervision visits and a biannual Safeguarding Audit tool; all staff have had recent training in November 2016 and the school has nominated teachers for safeguarding.
An e-safety day was led in September 2016 by Mr Pete Davies the Education Safeguarding Consultant for St Bede’s Primary Catholic Voluntary Academy. He has many years’ experience of working with schools in the Local Area and visits the school on a termly basis to carry out safeguarding supervision visits.
He also undertakes a full audit of all safeguarding procedures every two years. The school last had this audit completed in January 2017.
